Oh, what a year this has been! Starting off with the disastrous bushfires in Australia, we stumbled from one catastrophe into another as the coronavirus, which had been known to be lurking on Chinese wet markets for over a decade, eventually managed to leap to a host where it could wreak uncontrollable havoc.
Already in the year 2007 the American Society for Microbiology reviewed the biology of the virus in one of their scientific papers, stating that the „presence of a large reservoir of SARS-CoV-like viruses in horseshoe bats, together with the culture of eating exotic mammals in southern China, is a time bomb.“* Well, it’s safe to say that this time bomb finally went off turning all our lives upside down and putting both our society and economy to a challenging test we had been ignoring and avoiding this whole time.
But the worst of times allegedly bring out the best in people, so this is our chance to prove what we are capable of and realize how strong we are if we stick together all the while respecting the instructions of social distancing. Thanks to technology this is made possible.

Here at metasfresh, working together remotely and defying long distances in order to move our projects forward and keep our customers happy has always been part of our daily job. Mind you, not only our customers are located in other countries but also our entire team is based in different parts of the world — yet our hearts are all in the right place within our Open Source community.
So even though we are now forced to working remotely from our homes for the sake of our mutual health and welfare, our team morale has not suffered one tiny bit. Because we know about the struggles many businesses are going through right now and we want it to be known that we will not turn our backs on you in this time of need or ever!
